1. CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT

The Civil Superintendent ensures that the civil construction activities for which responsible are carried out or supervises the construction activities assigned to third party contractors, and ensures compliance with times and costs and quality, health, safety and environmental protection requirements. Duties include:

- Ensuring that the civil construction activities for which responsible are carried out using Saipem personnel or coordinating the site activities of sub-contractors;
- Supporting the CM, in close collaboration with the project organization for the Engineering & Procurement phase, in preparing and updating of construction schedules;
- Delivering documentation and materials to Contractors;
- Checking the adequacy of personnel and equipment belonging to Saipem or the contractors, promoting any actions required to achieve objectives;
- Ensuring that tests, controls and inspections are carried out in accordance with established schedules;
- Participating in determining corrective actions and then ensuring correct implementation of the activities for resolving cases of nonconformity;
- Providing the information regarding the correct execution of Construction works by Contractors, so that work progress can be checked;
- Ensuring, with the support of the HSEM, the field control of HSE aspects, also with reference to activities developed by Contractors/Suppliers;
- Notifying the CM of problems and deviations that cannot be settled directly;
- Assisting the CM and Project Manager with problems concerning claims or price revisions submitted by the subcontractor and problems raised or clarifications requested by the Client.

The Superintendent may use the services of the Field Specialist Supervisor (if available in the site organisation), especially for:

- control activities for field work and the surveying of personnel and equipment.
- verifying that works are correctly carried out, in accordance with project documentation, notifying the FEM (Field Engineering Manager) of any engineering problems encountered in the field.
