Qualifications:

Essential:
Experience working within established administrative accounting polices and procedures, for example, GAAP;
Experience working within an automated accounting system including data entry and running reports;
Strong analytical skills are essential in order to review information and ensure compliance with program requirements, monitor spending and preparation of reports;
Experience with office productivity tools including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
Experience maintaining accuracy and paying attention to detail in processing invoices, entering data, and preparing monthly reports;
Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage workloads and meet tight deadlines;

Desired:
Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively and accurately communicate with external agencies regarding program related information;
Experience working independently with minimal supervision;
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with external agencies and senior management.

Duties:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for verifying and processing payments on behalf of children and families by identifying payment authority and/or appropriate approvals and codes to the relevant appropriations.
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for data entry and provision of reports related to children in care; preparing and correlating documentation for reports on expenditures on behalf of children in care.
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of regular or special financial and statistical reports based on actual expenditures and projections and maintains recording logs of documents received from external agencies.
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for entering payment into the automated ledger system, arranging and maintaining files for approved authority documents, such as policies, approval letters and residency statements; and responding to inquires from government staff, external agencies, and the general public.
