The Government Records Centre is a central facility providing records storage, retrieval and disposal services to Manitoba government departments and agencies. High volumes of records are handled on a daily basis and staff are responsible for ensuring that they are managed in strict accordance with established rules and procedures, and that security and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a high school graduation diploma or equivalent, and demonstrated ability and experience carrying out tasks reliably and accurately while working effectively in a team setting and under workload pressures. The ability and experience to work with complex numerical and alpha systems to sort, organize and locate records are required, along with the ability to accurately record details of records handling and verification and to become proficient in use of a specialized database. The candidate will have the physical ability to handle and lift boxes weighing 25-40 lb. frequently during the day. The candidate must be able to physically operate power lift trucks and to be able to become proficient in operating this equipment in a warehouse setting. The candidate will be able to demonstrate ability and experience to work effectively with clients by phone, in writing and in person in a demanding client service environment. A valid Manitoba driver’s license is required, and the candidate will be able to drive a delivery vehicle and handle deliveries and pick-ups at office locations throughout Winnipeg. Strong communication skills are also required. Relevant work experience in inventory management, warehouse operations and/or use of electronic tracking systems will be preferred.
Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Government Records Centre, the incumbent performs a range of duties supporting the operations and services of the Centre. Duties include handling and verifying incoming shipments of records; sorting and moving records to and from storage locations; retrieving and delivering files to government offices; refiling returned files; verifying and marshalling records due for disposition; recording detailed tracking information in official documents and in an electronic database; searching the database and preparing reports; and responding to client requests and resolving problems in consultation with clients, staff and the Centre manager. The incumbent is expected to perform all duties with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and to work effectively with other staff to coordinate activities and process transactions in a timely manner.
