1. TEMPORARY FULL-TIME MANAGER, PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

Reporting to the VP Clinical Services/CNE, the Professional Practice Manager/Site Resource will facilitate the development of nursing practice and professionalism across the Wellington Health Care Alliance. The Manager will support the development of the key deliverables of the nursing framework and build a sustainable system to ensure ongoing viability of the framework. Key deliverables will include a competency based nursing framework and orientation program, best practice guidelines, life long learning program and specialty/leadership development.

Responsibilities

-      Develops Programs to assist nurses in maintaining the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario, meet organizational requirements and specialty nursing requirements
-      Completes a series of tasks i.e. orientation program development, implementation of best practice guidelines to support patient care delivery
-      Liaison with physicians, interprofessional team, staff, education institutions and external referral sources (i.e.) CCAC
-      Provides consultations related to professional practice and nursing practice within hospital teams i.e. equipment standardization, technology
-      Communicates effectively with all members of the hospital teams
-      Identifies and coordinates on policy and process development, educational initiatives and disseminates knowledge
-      Identifies mentoring opportunities among staff and makes appropriate recommendations.
-      Promotes patient teaching and a healthy workplace environment
-      Reviews and supports accurate documentation
-      Addresses performance issues in conjunction with Manager

Qualifications

-      R.N. in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
-      Baccalaureate required with Masters Preferred
-      At least 5 years hospital nursing experience preferably in a Specialty Area such as Emergency, Critical Care or Obstetrics
-      Membership in nursing professional organizations (e.g.) RNAO
-      Demonstrated expertise in clinical decision-making and evidence-informed practice
-      Effective problem solving skills
-      Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement processes
-      Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development of self and others
-      Experience in project management and key deliverables
-      Demonstrated success in change management
-      Excellent oral and written communication
-      Creative and flexible critical thinking skills
-      Ability to work independently and in team environment
-      Strong ability to utilize technology and adapt technology into practice
