The Central Region of the Transportation & Civil Engineering Division has various engineering specialties within their office, including: Construction, Infrastructure and Bridge Engineers. 1. Construction Engineers: Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will take a lead role in directing engineering consultants in the coordination, design, and construction of highway projects throughout the central region. The wide range of highway projects delivered in central Alberta offers an excellent opportunity to learn and develop upon your skills as a transportation engineer. Your excellent communication, leadership and technical skills will be your foundation as you ensure that quality highway projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and in accordance with Department standards.
2. Infrastructure Engineers: Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will be involved in administering preliminary engineering and safety assignments, supporting the delivery of construction projects, reviewing completed planning studies to identify future construction projects and assisting in the delivery of municipal grant programs. In addition you will be tasked with identifying and developing the Central Region’s three, five and ten year construction programs through consultation with municipal partners, other departments, and transportation staff.
3. Bridge Engineers: Reporting to the Bridge Manager, you will be part of a dynamic team involved in the administration of provincial highway bridge construction and rehabilitation projects. You will be tasked with selecting, evaluating and managing consultants for bridge projects. In addition, you will be responsible for the long and short-range road and bridge planning, programming and cost forecasting. You will also be responsible for the delivery of bridge projects of various sizes through consultants and contractors from the planning stages through to the completion of construction.
Qualifications
A related B.Sc. degree in engineering, preferably with a concentration in Civil Engineering, with extensive related experience including highway and/or bridge design, construction and maintenance. Candidates with additional education may be considered in lieu of some experience. Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license is required for travel throughout the Region. A Professional Engineering or Engineering-in-Training (EIT) designation from a recognized provincial or territorial professional engineering association is required. Candidates with lesser related experience may be considered at a lower classification and salary range
Salary: $72,360.16 – $100,188.24
