Position: Project Manager, Health Care Sector Development
Department: Business Development
Reports to: Director, Business Development
Salary: $45,000-$50,000

Position Summary: The Health Care Sector in Kingston is one of the most important in our economy and employs over 20 per cent of our working population. This sector is made up of a number of public and alternative providers who are faced with the challenge of an ever changing environment.  As a member of the Business Development team, the Project Manager will continue to build upon the foundation and initiatives already in place while being responsible for the design and delivery of a three year strategic and operating plan aimed at supporting the Health Care Sector in the City of Kingston.

Essential Functions:

The following functions aims to provide a high level description of the role but are not limited in nature:

1. Research, design, and develop a three year strategic and operating plan to support the Health Care Sector in Kingston

2. In collaboration with the Project Manager, Labour Market Development, identify gaps and implement a marketing strategy for the attraction and retention of specialists across the sector

3. Develop and coordinate a Health Care Sector leaders group to discuss challenges and solutions

4. Maintain operations of the existing Family Physician and Recruitment program

5. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with public and alternative providers contacts in the Health Care Sector on a local, regional, provincial, and federal level

6. Develop business to business relationships  by connecting those who want to do business with the Health Care Sector in Kingston

7. In conjunction with the Project Manager, Business Development (outside market) identify and attract research and development companies specific to the Health Care Sector

8. Work closely with the Project Manager, Business Development (inside market) in the growth and retention of existing bio health/health sector businesses in Kingston through KEDCO’s Service Kingston model

9. Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:

- Post secondary education in Business, Economic Development, Health Care, or Public Health

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of 2 years experience leading projects in the area of health care and recruitment
- Minimum 2 years experience in strategic planning
- A strong understanding of the challenges facing the Health Care Sector today
- Excellent networker and team builder
- 3 years working in an office environment with managing multiple assignments

PREFERRED SKILLS

-  Experience in the delivery of Health Care Sector development programs
- Proven ability in partnership development with key stakeholders
- Proficient in a second language (French preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Primarily working at a computer station
- Capacity to work ‘odd’ hours in addition to normal work hours
- Ability to carry, set-up and take-down display and trade show materials
