This unique opportunity will be of interest to a dynamic and broadly-experienced nurse who would like to become a member of a professional medical unit that provides assessment and treatment to clients within a youth correctional environment.

Qualifications:
Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba is required. Experience with clinical assessments, supportive counseling and case management is required. Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Experience in crisis intervention, emergencies and psychiatric services are preferred. Experience in a similar environment,  emergency room, public health, psychiatric or community medical services is required. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team is required. Experience/knowledge of communicable disease issues and addictions are assets. Knowledge of Aboriginal Culture is desired.
Candidates who do not meet the essential criterion of a Registered Nurse and who are qualified Licensed Practical Nurses, may be considered at an under-fill level with commensurate salary.

Duties:
Agassiz Youth Centre addresses immediate, acute and chronic health care needs including health stabilization.  The incumbent will be a member of a health care team reporting to the Health Services Manager.  Responsibilities include medical assessments, examinations, offender/staff education, administering of medication, and treatment of illness/injuries.  As a member of the medical team, the incumbent must be able to work with considerable independence and without direct supervision.  Some weekend and shift work will be required.
