Plastico Industries is a progressive company that has enjoyed steady growth over the last 10 years specializing in metal coatings and finishing.  We are seeking a highly motive individual to spear head our process and quality department.

Process Engineer

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Process Engineer will participate in a wide range of activities associated with continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and quality systems toachieve better quality products at lower costs, and establish new processes as required for new products.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Customer Quotes

* Review current business processes for continuous improvement opportunities.
* Implement quality tracking and closed loop corrective action systems.
* Provide back up for production management.
* Review all quotes based on piece per hour, material weight, packaging, labour, freight and projected scrap rate.
* Assist with production layout and logistics.
* Continuously review tooling and fixtures for cost reduction opportunities.
* Plant lead for ISO 9001-2000
* Ensure that all quotes are competitive.
* Suggest alternative where required.

Quality Assurance

* All aspects of PPAP’s, 8D’s, NCM’s, RMA’s, etc.

Internet Advertising

* Maintenance of Plastico and Latem internet presence from various search site (i.e. Google, Lycos, AOL)

Clean Air Act and Sound

* Responsible for the submission and approval of our Clean Air Act
* Responsible to the submission of our external noise Pollution

Tooling

* Develop specific tooling within budgetary constraint.
* Ensure that the tolerance can be maintained with a CpK of 1.2.

Product Flow

* Develop Manufacturing method to minimize bottle neck areas and maximize % utilization of each cell.
* Use Visio as a tool to visualize process.
* Document these processes in individual Work Instructions / visual Aid for each part.
* Document Work Instructions on how to use them.

R&D

* Maintenance of all R&D activities.
* Must ensure that proper documentation is maintained for R&D Claims.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

* Professional Engineer designation
* Quality / Engineering experience in an automotive environment an asset
* Proficiency/working knowledge Microsoft Excel, SPC Excel, Microsoft Word, and Visio.
