Qualifications:
Masters degree in Psychology with appropriate clinical experience or Bachelors Degree in Psychology with extensive clinical experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy work is required. Experience with complex psychological procedures, standard test formats and devises used in psychological examinations/ assessments to determine suitable treatment/interventions is required. Knowledge of the types, causes, and treatment of mental disorders is required as is knowledge of counseling procedures utilized by psychologists. Experience providing individual and group therapy to address a wide range of behavioral and mental health issues is essential. Demonstrated superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are critical to this position. The successful candidate will have experience working successfully in a team environment. Must be knowledgeable of and sensitive to aboriginal issues, culture and traditions. Understanding of offender social, emotional, and behavioral issues within a correctional setting and experience using forensic risk assessment tools is preferred.

Duties:
The main function of this position is the development and delivery of psychological services at Headingley Correctional Centre (HCC). Similar services will also be provided at the Winnipeg Remand Center one day a week. The incumbent will spend most of their time providing behavioral support and intervention programming/therapy to inmates as determined by assessment results under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Programs. Will provide consultative services to staff regarding the assessment, treatment planning and delivery of interventions to offenders, provide supervision and guidance to case managers and program staff, conduct assessments, develop and deliver staff training, and act as a consultant to senior managers in the development and implementation of relevant services and policies.
