We are currently seeking a Technical Support Specialist to join our team.

Technical Support Specialist

Duties: This position will perform a wide range of tasks associated with the administration, maintenance and support of the server environment at all College campuses. Duties will include performing or assisting with:

Configuration, installation and maintenance of complex server hardware and software
Operating system and application upgrades and patch installs
Level 1 server support calls from staff and students
Implementation and testing of regular hardware and software upgrade projects
Scheduling and maintaining backups of corporate data, and data recovery (when required)
Creation or maintenance of user accounts, and access to network resources such as file shares and printing

Qualification Requirements:

Required qualifications include:

A post-secondary degree or diploma in information technology; an equivalent combination of education and relevant server administration experience may be considered
Strong organizational, analytical and research skills and experience, with attention to detail, as well as adaptability to work in a constantly evolving environment
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills; problem solving skills; experience working in a project team and individually with limited supervision
Ability to work outside of normal business hours, and occasionally on-call; Possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel within and outside of Winnipeg
Experience configuring, administering and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 operating systems in an enterprise environment
Experience with VMWare vSphere 4.x in an enterprise environment
Working knowledge of network devices and protocols
Cultural sensitivity
Commitment to life long learning

Desirable qualifications include:

MCSE certification and experience with other server environments (Mac, Linux, Unix)
Experience with PowerShell , VEEAM and HP Data Protector, Microsoft System Center; and desktop and application virtualization
