The Field Operator responds to, assesses and takes appropriate action during electrical emergency situations and is required to operate Hydro Ottawa's high and low voltage power system including the isolation and restoration of overhead lines, underground cables, customer-owned high voltage vaults, substation breakers, buses, and transformers. The hours of work for the Distribution Operations Field Operator are based on a 24 X 7 rotating shift basis. The Field Operator is also responsible for performing station inspections, customer premise investigations, and capital asset inspections and testing.
